a clàp idea
Forty two people will cycle to Paris in May 2010. Twenty will ride Cambridge – London joined in London by 20 more for the trip south.
Friday May 28th Cambridge – London (70 miles) • Saturday London – Newhaven (70 miles) • Sunday Dieppe – Gournay-en-Bray (50 miles) • Monday Gournay-en-Bray – Paris (70 miles) Photocall at Eiffel Tower followed by • a cheap celebratory meal • a cheap hotel • and a cheap laugh • riders & bikes return via Eurostar next day – Tuesday 1st June.
Why a Cambridge, London a Paris ride 2010 you ask?
A loose (baggy even) group of cyclists do something together once a year to make the world a better place, usually gathered round a very tall man named Chris Rose who runs the Amos Trust which campaigns on justice issues around the world – currently for a better deal for street children, via the Deloitte Street Child World Cup 2010.
Organisation on this ride is thanks to:
Clàptain Daniel Rowlands – for planning the routes, booking the hotels, ferry & Eurostar
Clàptain Nick Welsh for logo, graphics, shirt design, blog design, and haircuts
Clàptain Chris Rose for inspiration

Rode about 30 miles this afternoon. Alistair M., Steve, Nick, Elia and me. Not cold for first time. Beautiful Essex countryside around Ickleton. Some mechanical problems from recently serviced Cannondale so some swearing from Nick, who also had groin strain, so more swearing, but bravely kept on. Reality setting in for all of us.

Lovely afternoon, beautiful countryside, absolutely rubbish ride. Appreciated the support and mechanical expertise of my comrades though. The worst 30 miles I’ve ever cycled.
